Services for Matthew "M A" Thompson of 120 Clingman Ave., Asheville, who died Thursday, will be at noon Monday in the chapel of Allen & Associates Mortuary. The Rev. John H. Grant will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. A native of Anderson, S.C., he had lived in Asheville for more than 50 years. He was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, West Wing and Clingman Avenue Community Club. For several years, he was a truck driver for Vogue Furriers and was retired from Highland Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Amelia G. Thompson; a half sister, Ethel Pickens of Hampton, Va.; and a son, Matthew Thompson of Washington, D.C. The family will receive friends at the residence.
