William S. Painter, 93, East Wenatchee, a former pioneer resident of the Waterville area, died Saturday in a Wenatchee convalescent center.

Born in Waterville, April 17, 1888, he attended school at Star for two years. The family moved to Goldendale for two years before returning to the Mud Springs area.

He married Nannie Mae Fowler on Oct. 9, 1912, at Waterville. They farmed northeast of Waterville until they retired and moved to Wenatchee in 1941. In 1947 they returned to Waterville to make their home until returning to East Wenatchee in 1978.

He was a member of the Waterville Federated Church.

Survivors include his wife, Wenatchee; two sons, Orval Painter, Waterville and Dale Painter, Wilbur; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Jensen of Waterville, Mrs. Roy (Lois) Wise and Mrs. Jerry (Vera) Wheldon both of East Wenatchee, and Mrs. Sylvan (Clara) Thomas of Bridgeport; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted in the Waterville Federated Church Fellowship Hall Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. William Williams officiated. Remembrances in his name may be sent to the Waterville Ambulance Fund. Concluding services and the interment in the Waterville Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home.
