/Ralston "Lou" Schroeder, 80, of Ripon, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

Ralston was born in St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, on February 13, 1929, the son of Ernest and Hazel (Hill) Schroeder. After graduating from high school, Ralston served his country in the US Army from 1948 to 1952 in the Signal Corps, serving in Okinawa and at Fort Mommouth, NJ. On September 23, 1951 he married Dorothy Van Note in Bradley Beach, NJ, and they made their home in Ripon. Ralston went to Moraine Park Technical School and served his Sheet Metal Apprenticeship with Ray Voysey. He worked as a Sheet Metal Journeyman and did heating and air-conditioning for 50 plus years, and also built piers on Green Lake. He was a past member of the Ripon Volunteer Fire Department and the V.F.W. Schultz-Klemp-Wentland Post #5278 in Ripon.

Survivors include his two daughters, Deborah (Dennis) Waller of Brookfield, WI, and Vickie (David) Brink of Ripon; two sons, Richard (Colleen) Schroeder of Markesan, WI, and Russell (Mary) Schroeder of Oshkosh, WI; six grandchildren, Grant (Tricia) Ninneman of Oshkosh, Loretta (Allen) Tonn of Beaver Dam, Emily Schroeder of CA, Laura Waller of Minneapolis, MN, and William Waller of St. Louis, MO, Stephanie Waller of New Orleans, LA; two great-granddaughters, Brenna and Brooklyn Tonn, one great-grandson, Jeremy Erickson; and one sister, Donna (Clayton) Pamenter of Ripon, WI. Ralston was preceded in death by his parents, his wife "Dot" and one brother, Gordon Schroeder.

Visitation for Ralston Schroeder will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon, with the Reverend Paul W. Nulton and Ardys Van Stavern officiating. A private Inurnment will be in Green Lake Center Cemetery, Town of Green Lake at a later date. A memorial can be given to Hospice Home of Hope, 400 Hwy K, Fond du Lac, WI 54937, or the Ripon V.F.W Schultz-Klemp-Wentland Post 5278, 404 Ransom St. Ripon, WI 54971.
