Voris Lansing Richart, 99, died Friday [16 Sep 1966] at Virginia Gay hospital. Death was due to complications of advanced age.
He was born Aug 14, 1867, in Siota county, Ohio, a son of John and Mariah Thomson Richart. He married Mae Leamer, who died in 1924, he married Mata Kruger [sic], who survives.
Mr. Richart was a retired farmer and worked as a field man for the Iowa Canning Co. for 25 years. He had served as a city councilman in Shellsburg, member of the volunteer fire department and was a member of the IOOF and Rebekah lodges.
Survivors are his widow; two sons, Lester of Tucson, Ariz., and John of Vinton; one brother, Charles of Palo Alto, Calif.; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. he was preceded indeath by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service were held at 2 p.m., today at the Fry and Holland funeral home with Rev. Robert P. Phillips officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery at Shellsburg.
