Age 88, of Hot Springs Village AR, died Monday; born in Pine Bluff AR, the only child of Frank DeBerry Banning and Martha Huntley Banning; married Leotta Maurice Thornton January 15, 1942 in Mt Pleasant TX; accountant/comptroller in TX and OK; US Air Force WWII veteran; member of Village Methodist Church; member of Temple Masonic Lodge and Past Master of Whittington Lodge.

Predeceased by newborn daughter, wife Leotta, and son Powell Banning.

Survivors include daughter Jeannine, and three granddaughters.

He married Leotta Maurice Thornton January 15, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant, TX; she died July 15, 2001. Together they shared almost 60 years of marriage.

Frank spent many years in oil and gas operations as a successful accountant/comptroller in Texas and Oklahoma. He settled in Dallas with his wife and raised their children, Frank Powell and Susan Jeannine.

He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1939, attended Tyler Community College, UT Austin, SMU, and East Texas State College.

Frank was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Air Force from 1942-1945 as a member of the 381st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, based in England.

Frank was a man of deep faith; a Christian and church member since his youth. Since retirement he was a member of the Village United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village. A man of character, Frank was not only a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, but also a committed Mason, member of Temple Masonic Lodge of Mt. Pleasant, TX for 64 years and Past Master of Whittington Lodge, Hot Springs, AR. He was also a member of the Hot Springs Village Shrine Club and the Shrine Oriental Band. He enjoyed helping coordinate services for local children with Shriner's Hospitals.

Frank was preceded in death by his newborn daughter, Cecelia Sue; dear wife, Leotta; and beloved son, Powell. He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Jeannine; granddaughters: Kristin Banning Glenn, Megan Banning, and Elizabeth Banning Malloy.

He taught his family by example, giving many gifts of deep spirit, unfailing courage, and endless humor. A truly good man and dearly loved; we are ever thankful for his life.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Village United Methodist Church, Hot Springs Village, AR.

Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Pleasant, TX.
