Obituary:
Mary Helen Newcomb Reid, age 78, of Chase City, Virginia passed away Monday, October 24, 2022. She was born July 22, 1944 in Lunenburg County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Eddie Craig "Pete" Newcomb and the late Ruby Childress Newcomb.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Duke Reid.

Helen is survived by her two sons, Daryle Allen Bailey of Skipwith and Duane Eddy Bailey (Sharon) of Keysville; five grandchildren, Chris Wilkinson, Tyler Crute (Lauren), Jonathan Bailey, Justin Bailey, and Christen Seay (Darell); great-grandchildren, Ty, Lane, and Savannah Wilkinson, McKennon and Kenley Crute, and Ava and Henry Seay. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy N. Shell (George) of White Plains; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Diane Mull, Dorothy Tollerson, and Cora Chronister.

Helen was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was a former employee for Hampco Apparel, Inc., Jonbil, and was also a Manager for Goodwill Industries in Chase City.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, 1260 Wilkerson Road, Skipwith, VA 23968. Entombment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
