Born in Geseke, Westfalen, Germany, "Gertrude" was the daughter of Heinrich Bimslager and Regina Salmen.

Gertrude married Anton "Adam" Reineke at St. Cyriakus (or St. Cyriacus) Catholic Church in Geseke, Germany in 1846. Adam worked as a farmer.

The Reinekes and their 5 children arrived in the United States on 18 Jun 1857 aboard the ship "Fides." They sailed from Bremmen, Germany to New Orleans, with their ultimate destination as St. Louis, Missouri.

However, the family returned to Geseke, Germany where their sixth child was born in 1859.

They returned to the United States once more in June 1860 aboard the "Ernst Moritz Arndt," again sailing from Bremmen to New Orleans with the goal of St. Louis.

The Reinekes settled fairly close to St. Louis in Calhoun County, Illinois where their seventh child was born. A Theodore "Dinsel" lived with the family in 1870; he may have been a relative of Gertrude Bimslager Reineke.

Gertrude's husband, Adam, became a naturalized citizen on 27 Oct 1873 in Calhoun.

At the time of her death, Gertrude was 48 years, 11 months and 4 days old. She was buried on 19 Nov 1874.
