DEATH OF WILLETTE H. SHEARMAN. ESQ.—
WILLETTE H. SHEARMAN, Esq., of Vernon, died on Monday, the 28th, after being in failing health for about two years. He was a native of Rhode Island, born at Kingston in 1791, but came to Vernon about 1812, to become agent of the Oneida Glass Factory, and held that position for about thirty years. He has since been engaged in farming and general business. Mr. SHEARMAN was a man of much more than ordinary intelligence and always took much interest in public affairs. He was one of the commissioners for the construction of the State Lunatic Asylum, but has not, we believe, held other official station outside of his own town. A man of decided opinions and of strong character, Mr Sharman commanded respect, and wielded a wide
influence. An extensive circle of friends mourn his loss. He leaves ten children, one ow whom is Hon. Richard C Sherman, of Hew Hartford.
