Abigail was the daughter of Joseph (1773-1843) and Elizabeth (Crayton) Higbee (1780-1839) of Saint Clair Twp., Allegheny County, Pa., probably in the portion that later became Upper St. Clair Twp. She married her cousin, Joseph Peter Higbee, on 16 May 1841. Joseph and Abigail settled in Clifton, Allegheny County, and had four known children: John B, Elizabeth Crayton, Sarah Lovinia, and Clarinda Campbell. They farmed in what became Upper St. Clair Twp., and in 1843 Abigail inherited $400 under her father's will.
