W. H. PATTERSON, BLUE CREEK TP. TRUSTEE IS DEAD

Dies Suddenly at Adams Co. Hospital Last Evening; Rites Friday

William H. Patterson, 69, prominent Blue Creek Township farmer of near Salem and township trustee for nearly eight years, died suddenly at 11:00 o'clock Tuesday night at the Adams County Memorial Hospital. Death was caused by coronary occlusion, or heart failure, according to Robert Zwick, county coroner. Mr. Patterson had undergone a major operation Monday and apparently was on the road to recovery when he was stricken.

The Adams County Board of Commissioners will appoint a successor to the late William H. Patterson to finish out the balance of Mr. Patterson's term as trustee of Blue Creek Township. He was a Republican and was elected to the trustee post in 1938 and re-elected in 1942. He was widely and favorable known. The term expires December 31 of this year.

Death came without warning. Family visited with him Tuesday evening and found him able to converse and quite cheerful. Death came after visiting hours and he had passed away before members of the family could be notified. Mr. Patterson had been in failing health for some time. He recently sold much of his farming equipment and livestock at public auction and planned to retire.

Mr. Patterson was born in Brown County, Indiana, April 2, 1877, the son of John and Adelia Stull Patterson. He came to this community when a young man and on March 31, 1901 he was united in marriage to Ora DeArmond. The couple lived in Blue Creek Township ever since.

Surviving are the widow and the following children: Ernest, Goshen; Mrs. Freda Hahnert, Kokomo; Mrs. Florence Whittridge, Salem; Herman, Decatur; Mrs. Lola Burke, Decatur; the following sisters; Mrs. Ervin Moore, Carey, Ohio; Mrs. Arch Haislup, Elwood; Mrs. Grace Hancher, Columbus, Indiana and Mrs. Ethel Heck, Sims, Indiana.

Nine grandchildren survive. The parents and one brother are deceased.

Mr. Patterson was a member of the Salem Methodist Church. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the church, following a short services at the home. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery. The body will be removed to the home Thursday morning from the Zwick Funeral Home in Decatur.
