A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Highland Cemetery Chapel for
Avis (Anderson) Etzel, 90, Durant, who died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at
King's Daughters and Sons Nursing Home. Billy Joe Garner will officiate.
She was born Monday, May 26, 1913, in Roberta to Newman Clark ‘Doc' and
Sarah Valeria (Thomas) Anderson. She married Dee Richard Etzel May 3,
1936, in Durant. She lived in Durant as a child and them moved away. She
returned to Durant in the late 1970s from Houston, Texas. She was a
homemaker and member of the Durant First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents in 1966; husband June 18, 1991;
son Michael Gordon Etzel Sept. 5, 2000, and sisters Jane Hamm McCoy, Inez
A. James and Normarie Patton.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
