The Coopersville MI Observer April 3, 1903 pg. 8: E.O. Pratt is very low at this writing and little hopes are entertained for his recovery. His daughter, Mrs. Peter Trankler of Grand Rapids, came Tuesday evening and Mrs. Zack Dyer of Evart came Wednesday morning.The Coopersville MI Observer April 10, 1903 pg. 2: OBITUARY E.O. Pratt was born in Edwards, St. Lawrence Co., NY March 16, 1825 and died of old age at his home, near Conklin, April 2, (?) see above notice dtd. April 3, 1903, age 78 years and 17 days. He was married to Calista Banister, July 4, 1848, who entered into her heavenly home five years ago. Eight children were born to them, seven of whom are now living.The oldest daughter died nearly 30 yrs ago. Mr. Pratt was converted January 1, 1854 and shortly after united with the Baptist Church in Edwards, NY and remained with this Church until he moved with his family to Wright, Ottowa Co, MI, in the fall of 1865 where he has since resided. He then united with the Baptist Church at Berlin where he has been a true devoted and beloved member. Elder Hicks, of Sand Lake, (former pastor of the Berlin Church) preached the funeral sermon. He leaves three sons, Aaron and James (the latter with whom he lived) of Conklin, Guy Pratt of Grand Rapids; and four daughters, Mrs. Eli Barager of Conklin, Mrs. Peter Trankler of Grand Rapids, Mrs. W.H. Maycroft, of Polkton, and Mrs. Zack Dyer of Evart, 30 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren besides a large circle of friends to mourn the loss of a dear father.
