My father Warren George Klees (1923-2016) had told me that there was a strong tradition that John Billig's mother was a Fetterman.  I had heard this from John Billig's last living grandchild Helen Saphrona (Fetterman) Shoup (1891-1983).

From the last will and testament of George Fetterman, Maxatawny Twp., Berks Co., PA, probated October 24, 1801 (transcribed from "Pennsylvania Probate Records, 1683-1994" at familysearch.org, Berks County, "Estates 1800-1850 Evans, Philip T.-Fichthorn, Andrew", image 2230, first two lines in upper left corner):
"Fünftens der mache ich meiner Tochter Magdalena ihren Sohn John billig die sum von"

Immediately before this, George Fetterman's will also mentions his daughter Magdalena's son "Nicklaus Keifer" (image 2229, last four lines on bottom right).

From the Lehigh Church records:  infant baptism for Johan Nicolaus; born September 20, 1792; baptized February 3, 1793; parents "Johan Nic. Keiser a. e. in diesem Fall" and Magdalena Vederman (apparently not married to each other); sponsors Sebastian Edel and wife Elizabeth.

From the Catawissa, PA, Lutheran records:  infant baptism for Katharina; born July 15, 1809; baptized September 4, 1809; parents Dewald Oswald and wife Magdalena; sponsor Katharine Fetterman (possibly the grandmother, George Fetterman's widow?).

The "second Accompt of John Fetterman Executor and Catherine Fetterman Executrix" shows 10 £ 0 s 0 d cash to "Magdalena Belig" (image 2242).  It also shows "Dewald Oswald" in what appears to be the list of George Fetterman's children (image 2243).

The record book of the "Conyngham Lutheran" charge has a death record for John Billig, which shows his parents as John and Magdalena Billig.  This book had been at St. John Lutheran Church in Catawissa; today it is in the vault at the Wentz Library at the Gettysburg Lutheran Theological Seminary.  (No one has ever figured out, precisely what this "Conyngham Lutheran" book is a record of.)
