REEDSVILLE - Elizabeth J. "Betty" Carson, 84, of 102 W. Logan St., Reedsville, died at 6:38 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Feb. 18, 1927, in Reedsville, she was a daughter of the late Ward Drew and Margaret (Dalzell) Narehood.
Her first husband, Jack L. Armstrong, preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1964. Her second husband, Robert B. "Orb" Carson, preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2010.
She also was preceded in death by: a son, Terry lee Armstrong, on May 5, 1978; a granddaughter, Jade A. Royer, on April 9, 2008; brothers, S. Ward Narehood and Ronald K. Narehood; and sisters, Margaret Wilson and Evelyn Michalchik.
Betty is survived by: her children, Jack L. Armstrong II and wife, Francene, of Milroy, and Bobbie Lynn Montressor and husband, David, of Spring Mills; stepson, Craig B. Carson, of Hesston; siblings, Linda Snook and husband, Gary, and Robert D. Narehood and wife, Sandy, both of Lewistown; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Carson was a former employee of Dairyland, the County Observer and Kish Printing.
She was a 1945 graduate of Reedsville High School. She enjoyed socializing with the ladies at Leslie Riden's Beauty Shop during her weekly visits. Betty played cards monthly with a group of ladies who brought her great joy. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
