Mrs. Gertrude Rinehart, 88,, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday in a Kirksville hospital where she was taken Dec. 30, suffering from a respiratory ailment.
Her husband was admitted at the same time and died Jan 22.
Mrs. Rinehart, the former Gertrude Upright, was born Oct. 29, 1881, in Brookfield, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Upright. The family moved to Kirksville in 1896 and the following year she married Rupert L. Rinehart, an established news vendor.
They were the parents of seven children, of whom six survive. One son, Erwin, preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Mrs. Mabel Willbanks, Kirksville; Charles Rinehart, Jefferson City; Kenneth, Chillicothe; Richard, Hawthorne, Calif.; Dr. John Rinehart, Boulder, Colo.; and Mrs. Martha Jones, Libertyville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
