The funeral for Mabel Bergsgaard, 90, of Harvey, formerly of Maddock, was held Tues. at 11 a.m. at Viking Lutheran Church, rural Maddock. Interment was in the church cemetery in block 2 plot 33. She died July 27, 1990 at St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Rev. Kevin Brown officiated. Sheila Erickson was organist & accompanied Arlyss Bergrud, soloist. Pallbearers were Carroll Gilbertson, Randall Aanderud, Rolf Berg, Douglas Arnston, Erling Faleide & Jeff Ellingson. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Haugen, Alton Liudahl, Harlan Hellerud, Kim Paulson & Lyle Johnson. The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock was in charge of arrangements.
Mabel Bergsgaard was born Nov. 17, 1899 near Maddock to Ole & Annie Bergsgaard. She grew up in the Maddock area & attended the Quarve School near Viking. She was employed at the Spring Grove Hospital in Spring Grove, Minn. & later worked for a number of employers in Fargo. At the start of WWII she returned to Maddock to be with her parents & brothers Lawrence & Kermit, on the farm there. She lived at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey the past 10 years. Before that she was at the Maddock Memorial Home for 2 years.
She was a lifelong member of the Viking Lutheran Church, rural Maddock.
Survivors include 3 brothers, Arnold of LaCrosse, Wisc., Kermit of Maddock & Clarence of Moorhead, Minn.; & a sister, Olga Bergsgaard of Fargo.
