Emma is the daughter of Alonzo and Maria Ayres (LeSeur) Blood. Her mother died when she was about age 5yrs old so the only mother she actually knew was Caroline S. Town Blood, whom Alonzo later married. It is noted that Emma's first name is the same as her mother's middle name. She apparently preferred Emma as most documents give that name, even though her tombstone states Ayres.
