John W. Deatherage, 75, died Monday at a hospital in Jacksonville IL. A native of Agency, he had lived in St. Joseph until 15 years ago when he moved to Chicago and then to Jacksonville. A retired U.S. government meat inspector, he was a member of the Christian Church at Agency.

Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Tessie Deatherage of the home; a step-son, Gilbert, Jacksonville IL; a brother, Paul Deatherage, Agency, and four sisters, Mrs. Lettie Snyder and Mrs. Viola Thacker, St. Joseph, Mrs. Nancy Babcock, Agency and Mrs. Edna Beck, Littleton CO.

The body will be brought to St. Joseph tomorrow morning and will be taken to the Heaton-Bowman mortuary where services will be at 2 tomorrow afternoon. The Rev. W. K. Herod will officiate and burial will be at Agency cemetery.

Obituary says he is survived by a stepson, Gilbert, Jacksonville IL, a brother Paul Deatherage of Agency, MO and four sisters, Mrs. Lettie Snyder and Mrs. Viola Thacker, St. Joseph, Mrs. Nancy Babcock, Agency and Mrs. Edna Beck of Littleton CO.
