Otto John Wall was born July 13, 1886 in Brumley, MO; passed away at the Veterans' hospital, Excelsior Springs, Mo., at the age of 53 years, 5 months and 1 day, Thursday, December 14, 1939. Otto was the son of Henry David and Mariah Catherine Wall, and spent his whole life on the farm where he was born.

He was patient and kind at all times, always at his mother's side in prosperity or adversity. To know Otto was to love him. He was preceded in death by his father who passed away April 20th, 1916, and one sister, Susie, who died in infancy Feb. 2, 1899. He served in the World War from July 21, 1918 to Jan. 31, 1919.

There are eight sisters and three brothers living--Alonzo T. Wall, Dora Nofsinger, Alpha Winnop, Edna Pemberton, Walksie Maltby, Joel B. Wall, Mary Williams, Ralph H. Wall, Nellie Jones, Luna Martin and Hazel Martin, all of whom were present for the funeral except Mrs. Winnop. He is also survived by his beloved mother, Mr. M.C. Wall.

Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church by Rev. J. C. Thompson and the Masonic Order, of which he was a member. The masons continued their services at the graveside. Burial was in the Hawkins cemetery with Adams & Casey funeral service in charge.

A bright, friendly smile,
A cheerful word to all,
A kindly, helpful neighbor,
This was Otto Wall.

And he said, "The greatest commandment of all is that ye love one another."
