Paul Magnus Hanselman Sr., age 82, a long time resident of Wheaton,died Monday, September 28, 2009. He was born December 1, 1926 in Elmhurst to Walter and Margaret Hanselman. He graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School. Paul served in US Navy from 1944-1945. He attended Wheaton College then graduated from the University of Illinois. After college served with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship, and married Ruth Prevette in 1952. He attended Trinity Divinity School, was ordained through the Evangelical Free Church and with Ruth served as missionaries in the Belgian Congo. In 1964 they returned to the United States, and in 1967 they settled in Wheaton. He committed the rest of his life to advancing God's kingdom through designing and implementing a system for small indigenous farmers in the developing world. In recent years he has dedicated himself to praying for and mentoring young people and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ruth, his sister Ruth (Art) Ross, Jean (Bill) Reeves, 6 children, Nancy(Tim) Navratil, Wuhan, China, Paul Jr, Cheryl), Norwich, CT. Peter (Jan) Carol Stream, IL, Lois (Bruce) Badger, Glen Ellyn, IL, Marty (Byron) Nielsen, Fort Collins, CO, Becky, Wheaton, IL, 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Scott, parents and his sister Lois (Merlin) Bilhorn.

A visitation will be held on Friday Oct. 2nd from 4-8 at Hultgren Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday Oct. 3rd at the Wheaton Evengelical Free Church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to IFES, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF/USA), PO Box 7895, Madison, WI 53707-7895.
