Mrs. John T. Myers dies following long illness

Mrs. Drusilla H. Myers, 96 of 228 North Fourth street , member of a prominent Adams county family, and a lifelong resident of the Decatur area, died at 6:30 a.m. today at the Parnell Park nursing home in Fort Wayne , following an extended illness.

Mrs. Myers was the widow of John T. Meyers, prominent Decatur clothing merchant, who died in 1932. She was born in Adams county Oct. 2, 1871, a daughter of Martin and Sarah Archbold-Hower, and granddaughter of Thomas Archbold, Revolutionary War veteran. She was married to John T. Myers Aug. 25, 1895.

Mrs. Myers was a member of the First United Methodist church in Decatur for 75 years, the W.S.C.S., Golden age group and the EverReady Sunday school class of the church, the Order of Easter Star and the Decatur Woman's club. Mrs. Myers organized the Art department of the Woman's club in 1927 and was its first chairman. When a young girl, she studied painting in oils, pastel, charcoal and water color under the Armenian artist, Mihean K. Seralian. Many of her paintings are displayed in Decatur homes.


Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert L. (Harriet) Mills of Decatur; two grandsons, T Sgt. Daniel J. Mills of Wichita Falls , Tex. , and John T. Myers II of Cleveland , O.; and six great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A daughter, Dorothy May, died in infancy, and a son, Herman H. Myers, a former city attorney, was killed in an auto accident in Indianapolis in 1936. Three sisters and three brothers are deceased.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Winteregg-Linn funeral home, with Rev. Melvin Seeger officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Sunday until time of the services.
