Funeral services for Dr. John D.Barnhart,72 of Bloomington,Ind and fomerly of Decatur will be Wednesday at Morans with burial in Fairlawn cemetery.
Dr. Barnhart had been in poor health for seven years,died Monday in Bloomington. He was born in Decatur on Sept 22,1895 a son of John D.andEffie Clothier Barnhart. He was a retired professor formerly chairman of the history department of Indiana University. In 1954 he was names"Indiana Author of the Year for his book"Valley of Democrcy". He was a member of the Episcopal church and Rotary club.
He was married to Zella Petty in Decatur on Jan. 3, 1917. She survives along with a son Frank A.of Bloomington,a daughter, Mrs. Frances Zorn of Ann Arbor,Mich,sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Dellams of Decatur and Mrs. Gladys Wises of Cerro Gordo and five grandchildren.
