Thomas W. Windsor, age 28, entered the Army as a private at Kinston, NC, September 20, 1862 in the 66th NC Regiment 1st CO "A" Salisbury Prison Guard. Transferred to CO "G", 66th NC Infantry Regiment on October 2, 1863. He was killed June 24, 1864 at Hare's Plantation in the Battle of Petersburg, VA. There is no record of his burial.
His body was never recovered or identified. Thomas W. Windsor was from Iredell Co., NC. (Information from the NARA Military Records of Thomas W. Windsor.)

Deed Book 4: Page 627. Dated 11 October 1859. William J. Colvert to Thomas W. Windsor. For $360.46, a tract of land on Wilksboro Road, joining Francis Clarke, Sarah L. Jones, containing 111 acres and 19 poles. Signed: W. J. Colvert. Witness: L. V. Campbell and A. Gaither, jurat. Proved 8 April, 1871. Registered 20 April, 1871. He left a wife, Emiline Elizabeth Buchanan Windsor and two small children, William Sanford and Sarah Emily. Sarah Emily was my Grandmother. Thomas was my Great Grandfather.
