George H. Smeltzer, 95, of 374 North Colebrook Road Manheim died peacefully Friday, October 20, 2006 at Moravian Manor Lititz. Born in Millersburg, he was the son of the late Harvey and Alice Auker Smeltzer. A lifelong farmer, he was the owner and operator of his own farm in Rapho Township. Early in his life he worked with his father as an electrician in building projects throughout Lancaster County. George last was employed at the former Anchor now Philips Company Lancaster; previously, he worked for the Manheim Belting Company, and worked as a driver for the Food Service Department for the Manheim Central School District and was also employed by Longenecker's Hardware Manheim. He was the husband of the late Minnie B. Ginder Smeltzer who died in July of 1994. A former member of the Mastersonville Brethren In Christ Church he also served as a Sunday school teacher. His interests were fishing and taking long drives in his car throughout Lancaster County and surrounding areas, he loved experiencing nature and wildlife areas. Surviving is a son, Kenneth E., husband of Joyce Longenecker Smeltzer of Manheim; a daughter, Ruth Ann, wife of J. Melvin Dombach of Goodyear, Arizona; two granddaughters, Julie Fitzpatrick and Sandy Smeltzer; and a sister, Sylvia, wife of Alfred Wenger of Waynesboro. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Smeltzer and a sister, Elva Bixler. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service from the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 10:30 AM. Interment in Mastersonville Brethren In Christ Cemetery Rapho Township. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
