Age 92. Friday,November 3, 2006 at his late residence in Joliet. Born in North Dakota and a lifelong Joliet area resident. Retired from National Cartage as a truck driver after many years of service. A member of Teamsters Local #179. Member of Holy Name Society and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he served his church in many ways, as acolyte, usher, a member of the St. John's Bowling Team, and assisted with bingo. He was an avid Sox fan.
Preceded in death by one son, John Wilda (2006); his parents, Richard and Amanda Wilda; three brothers and one sister.
Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marie A.(nee Zerbes) Wilda of Joliet; three sons, Charles Wilda of Joliet, Joseph (Paulette) Wilda of Mokena, and Robert (Brenda) Wilda of Shorewood; six daughters, Kathleen (late Loyd) Martin of Joliet, Barbara (Forrest) Liles of Morris, IL, Loretta (Jim) Decman of Rockford, Irene Bakalar of Joliet, Helen (Ronald) Bacza of Joliet and Marcella (William) Arnold of Joliet; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Wilda of Lockport; 28 grandchildren; 34 Great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Richard E. Wilda will be Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. John Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. John Cemetery. Visitation Monday 3-7 p.m. at:
