The untimely death of Newel W. Jenkins occurred Saturday morning November 5th in the Wyoming General Hospital at Rock Springs, Wyoming, following injuries received in a car accident on the Pinedale highway, fourteen miles North of Rock Springs.
Newell was performing his duties as line rider for the Rock Springs Grazing Association when his car skidded on the icy highway and turned over twice, throwing Newell thirty feet from the car. He was picked up by a Rock Springs acquaintance, who was driving behind him, and taken to the hospital.
At the hospital it was discovered that Newel suffered a skull fracture, crushed chest and a broken leg.
Newel spent his early childhood in Star Valley where he has many friends and acquaintances. Most of his life has been spent working out on the open range where he and his work has been closely connected with the sheep industry. There is hardly a sheepman or owner in Western Wyoming who did not know and respect him and who will not keenly, feel his loss.
He leaves to mourn him, a wife, Genieve Green Jenkins, two children, Buelah 12 and Junior 8, five brothers, Walt of Weiser, Idaho; Mark of Moore, Idaho; T. R. Jenkins of Robertson, Wyoming, Ross of Los Angeles, Calif. and Dwin of Garden City Utah, and an only sister, Mrs Lulu Tanner of Cardston, Alberta, Canada.
Newel was laid to rest November 9th in a cemetery at Pocatello, Idaho, the former home of Mrs Jenkins.
