James Patrick Doyle, Jr., age 78, died peacefully at home on Friday, October 9th, 2009.
He was born the son of the late James P. Doyle and Ruth Doyle on April 16th, 1931. Jim was a former employee of the Commonwealth of Pa. He and his late wife, K. Yvonne Doyle, were former proprietors of the Doyle Hotel, Doyle Motel and The Quail Call Restaurant, Duncannon.
He was a Korean Conflict Veteran of the US Army.
Jim was a member of Perry Lodge No. 458 F.& A.M.; The American Legion Post 340 and VFW Post 255, both of Duncannon. A graduate of Duncannon High School and the Valley Forge Military Academy. He also attended Penn State University. Jim was also the longtime announcer of Susquenita Football Games, a member of the former "Lights for Susquenita" Committee and Campaign and a former Susquenita Midget Football program coach.
He truly enjoyed being with family and friends, hunting and fishing and watching his grandsons play football and wrestle. He will be greatly missed by all who experienced his friendship. He was the widower of Kay "Vonnie" Yvonne Doyle.
He is survived by a daughter, Stacey Carson and husband Jeff of Dixon, Missouri and grandchildren, Steven, Brandon, Remington, Morgan and Alexis Weigle, all of Bloomsburg, PA.
Memorial services will be held at 5pm on Sunday, October 18, 2009 in the Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High St. Duncannon, with Rev. Candace Arnold officiating. Visitation will be from 4pm until 5pm Sunday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flower's memorial contributions in Jim's honor may be made to the American Heart Assoc. 4999 Louise Dr. Suite 104 Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
