J. B. Brown, War Veteran and Pioneer is Dead
Jeremiah Benjamin Brown died at 11:40 o'clock, Sunday night at his home on I Street.
Paralysis was the cause of death, Mr. Brown suffered a paralytic stroke about a month ago but had apparently recovered and seemed to be in his usual health. He visited his ranch, now occupied by his son, Sunday, Jan. 21, and went all over the place with unusual interest. He complained of feeling bad the following Tuesday and suffered a second stroke of paralysis, Friday which resulted in his death.
Mr. Brown was a union veteran of the Civil War.
Mr. Brown was born in New York City, June 22, 1849. He had lived in Salida the past 35 years. Mr and Mrs. Brown celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary, April 5, 1922. Mrs. Brown is 71 years old and in good health. Mr. Brown was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Bert Brown and seven grandchildren. Two other children preceded him in death.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Stewart Chapel. Interment will be in Fairview.
