Dr. Allen O. Webb, 72, served as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas from 1948-1950. He graduated from Mississippi College and Southwestern Baptist Seminary where he received his Th.M. and Th.D. degrees. As a beginning pastor, he served at Red Springs, Throckmorton, Haskell, Bay City, Corpus Christi, and San Antonio in Texas. In 1960, he and his family moved back to Mississippi where he served as pastor for Daniel Memorial Church in Jackson and Ingalls Avenue in Pascagoula. During these years, he held several service positions relative to Southern Baptist work. These included membership on the State Executive Committee and Committee on Committees of Texas and SBC, president of Directors of Missions in Mississippi, professor of evangelism in New Orleans Seminary one fall, and as a member of the board of trustees for Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson for more than 12 years. After retiring in the mid-1980s, Dr. Webb and his wife, Leila Mae, served the Home Mission Board as pastor to a pioneer church in Emerado, North Dakota, and later the Foreign Mission Board as interim pastor for an English-speaking church in Munich, Germany. During these intervening years, the Webb family returned to Haskell to visit several times, the last being in 1988 when they attended the First Baptist Church's 100th celebration.
