Agard.
Marietta Ward was born in Waverly, Ill., February 28, 1853, the daughter of E. D. and Susan Ward. At the age of seventeen she was united in marriage with Norman Agard, a Civil War soldier. To this union four children were born, two sons dying in infancy, and two daughters surviving Mrs. Agard, Mrs. M. H. McMillen of Wilmette, Ill., and Mrs. R. N. Trezise of Washington, D. C., with whom Mrs. Agard has made her home most of the time since Mr. Agard's death about twenty-five years ago.
In 1885 Mr. and Mrs. Agard moved to Kansas, where they made their home for many years.
Mrs. Agard fell and broke her hip on June 3rd of this year, and was removed to Homeopathic Hospital in Washington, D. C., where she died June 29th, at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 1 day.
She was a member of the Calvary Methodist church in Washington, and leaves hosts of friends. While Mrs. Agard lived in Waverly she was a member of the Methodist church, and during her many visits here she was an active member of the different church organizations.
The remains were brought to this city, and funeral services held in the First M. E. church Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, in charge of the pastor, Rev. D. K. Sailor. Miss Bertha Parkin sang "A Song of Heaven and Homeland", and "The End of the Road", with Miss Mattie Deatherage at the organ.
The pall bearers were S. W. Rodgers, Wm. Sisson, F. H. Curtiss, T. L. Dennis, E. M. Narr and L. W. Walker.
The flowers were cared for by Misses Nannie Meacham, Sno Miner, Rose Sisson, Katherine King, and Jessie Farmer.
Burial was in East cemetery.
