Della was born September 25, 1911 in Grayson (Blanding), Utah to Adelbert and Laura Guymon Brown.
She married William Reed Brasher on November 25, 1931 in Castle Dale, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Reed passed away on September 14, 1966. Della then married Samuel Nelson Alger on December 13, 1986, in Huntington, Utah. Samuel passed away on April 17, 1997.
Della served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She also served in many Stake and Ward auxiliaries, including Relief Society, Primary, and MIA. She was active in RSVP and DUP. She played and sang in the Senior Citizen band, and she enjoyed the Senior Citizen dances. She loved to work in her yard and took great pride in her flowers and in her vegetable gardens. She also loved to travel.
Della and Reed took in foster children and boarders for several years. She was a wonderful example to her children. She taught us to sew, quilt, crochet, and how to can fruits and vegetables. She taught us the value of being dependable, working hard, and giving service.
Della is survived by her four children: Beverly (Dee) Nielson of Casa Grande, Arizona, Bryce (Joyce) Brasher of Huntington, Utah, Lorie (Lee) McElprang of Huntington, Utah, and Vee (Courtney) Guymon of Huntington, Utah; four step-children: Margaret (Ted) Olsen of Roy, Utah, Suzette Alger of Price, Utah, Phil (Sandy) Alger of Oklahoma, and Norman (Laurel) Alger of Florida; 20 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Reed and Samuel; and her siblings: Guy, Nola, Norris, Ellis, Edith, and Harold.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Huntington Stake Center (240 North Main Street). There will be a viewing held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale (720 North Center Street), and on Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the services at the Church.
Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery.
