In Memory
On the 2nd day of April, 1910, James
C. Pelley departed this life at his home
near Pellyton, Ky. He was born and
reared near the place where he died,
and was nearly 67 years old.
Mr. Pelley was confined to his bed
for many months and bore his affiction
with remarkable fortitude and patience.
A few days before his death a beloved
daughter, and wife of Joseph Campbell,
was taken violently ill and soon died.
Her father had the casket that con-
tained the remains of his daughter
brought to his bedside that he might
see his loved one. He calmly viewed
the corpse without manifesting the
least emotion and softly fell asleep. He
seemed to realize that he would soon be
placed by her side in the bosom of
mother earth.
He was a member of the Methodist
church and demeaned himself as a true
Christian. The burial was in Jones
grave yard and was attended by several
hundred people. Funeral services were
conducted by Rev. Wm. Lemon, who
paid a high tribute to the deceased.
J. C. Pelley was a good man, and his
death is a great bereavement to his
many friends. He was always ready
to help those in distress and will long
be remembered for his deeds of charity.
He leaves a wife, two children, and
several grand children to mourn the
irreparable loss they have sustained.
Peace to his memory.
