OBITUARY

Orville Overmeyer of Winter was instantly killed last Saturday by a discharge of dynamite while he was blowing out stumps on the Connor's Lake Road near Winter. He was working with his brother who drilled the holes beneath the stumps while he placed and fired off the charges. It is supposed he was kneeling with the box of dynamite in front of him and a spark from his pipe set off the dynamite.

Overmeyer was an ex-service man, having served with the Emergency Corps. He had been employed by the County in this work for several years and had always been very efficient. Overmeyer was unmarried and lived with his parents on a farm near Winter.

NOTE: A descendant reports that Orville's arm was found later and buried in Winter, Sawyer Co., Wisconsin.
