SANDERSVILLE - Funeral services for Elijah S. Brantley, 79, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Cecil Darity officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Brantley was a lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late George M. Brantley and the late Mrs. Permelia Bridges Brantley. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his widow, the former Miss Annie Belle Welch; four sons, Elder J. W. Brantley, Buford Brantley and Newman Brantley, all of Harrison; Malcolm Brantley of Sylvester; two daughters, Mrs. Annie Ruth Waller of Harrison and Mrs. H. R. Altman of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, G. M. Brantley of Tennille and Rufus S. Brantley, of Atlanta; and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Shurling and Mrs. Annie Brantley of Tennille; Mrs. Dorcus Harrison of Eatonton and Mrs. T. P. Brantley of Milledgeville.
Son of George Moulton Brantley and Permelia Sessions Bridges/Brantley.
Married to Temperance Annabelle Welch on 12/21/1904 in Welch Family Home in Washington County, Georgia. They had seven known children.
