Frank James Blazek, 77, 1118 Third, died Sunday, Dec. 17, at a local hospital following a lingering illness.
He was born Oct. 11, 1912 in Salt Lake City to Louis James and Sarah Ann Haddow Blazek. He attended schools at Washington Grade School, Irving Junior High and Pocatello High School.
He married Pauline Burkholder Nov, 13, 1938 in Pocatello.
He served in the U.S. Army/ Air Force 8 (A.F.) 384th Bomb Group, 547th Squadron, during World War II.
He worked 20 years at Peterson Furniture where he was a floor coverings expert. He also was a maintenance man at Idaho State University until his retirement.
He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught Sunday school in the 1930's. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and interviewed on the local PBS TV station in 1988 in connection with the Idaho centennial.
He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Robert and Clara Wilson since the age of 3.
He is survived by his wife, of Pocatello; on son, William James, Beaverton, Oregon; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Chapel, 431 N. 15th Ave., with Doug Hartley, a son-in-law, officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8p.m. today and from1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mountainview Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the combined veterans groups and auxiliaries, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Southeast Idaho Freedom Birds.
