Cause of death: Apoplexy and high blood pressure.

NOTE: The death year on his stone appears to be in error. His death certificate clearly indicates that Dr. P. L. Choate of Sparta, NC, certified death occurred at 7 p.m. on Mar. 10, 1951. The funeral director, Reins-Sturdivant, Sparta, NC, shows burial took place on Mar. 12, 1951 and Faye Reeves, the Deputy County Registrar filed the document on Apr. 6, 1951.
