Clyde Edward McGonigle, 90, Milford, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Sunrise Country Manor near Milford.

Clyde was born Nov. 27, 1910, on a farm near Sterling, Kan. to William and Sadie (Fahrney) McGonigle, the fifth of 11 children.

As a young boy, Clyde attended Consolidated School Union #5 near Sterling and one
year at Nicerson. He raised and sheered sheep and helped his father farm.

Clyde married Wilma Alber at Hutchinson, Kan. The couple had one son, Dale, and one daughter, Margaret.

The couple lived on farms near Sterling until 1941, when they moved to a farmstead near Beaver Crossing where they were told the land held flowing wells.

They also farmed near Gresham and again near Beaver Crossing before moving to
Milford in 1957. Clyde and his son put up elevators and, beginning in 1959, he and Wilma operated "Mac's Cafe" for approximately 12 years.

Clyde was also known as the "Hay baler Man" by many because of his skill for working
and repairing on so many types of hay balers.

He is survived by his wife; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Charley Ackerman, Milford; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and LaDean McGonigle, Beaver Crossing; brother and sister-in-law, Oliver and Clara McGonigle, Lake Whitney, Tex.; sister-in-law,
