Orland D. "Ord" Anstey

Funeral services were held Sept. 25, 1992, at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison, Neb. for Orland D. "Ord" Anstey. Burial was at the Harrison Cemetery. Rev. Joseph Booker conducted the services.

Anstey was born near Horton, Kan., on June 15, 1898. When he was quite small the family moved to the Salina, Kan. area where he grew up and attended school near there. He came to western Nebraska in the early 1920's to visit relatives after working on a ranch near Deer Lodge, Mont. He left several times to seek employment in other states, but always returned to Harrison.

He bought a house in Harrison in 1960 and that was his permanent home until October 1991. At that time he moved to the Bethesda Care Center in Worland, Wyo., to be near his daughter.

During his life he was mostly involved in farming and ranching but at various times he worked in road construction, at a radio repair shop, with a contract painter, in the drydocks and tire shop at Pearl Harbor during World War II and managed a small restaurant. His favorite pastimes were fishing, dancing, reading and just enjoying life. He was a member of the Masons, Eastern Star and Eagles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Tyrrel of Worland; two grandsons, Bryan Tyrrel of Everett, Wash., and Kelly Tyrrel of Fort Bliss, Texas; one great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
