The Life Sketch Of Mrs. Sarah A. Posey
Mrs. Sarah A. Posey, respected Fairfield matron who passed away at her home her October 20th, was born in Mulingburg county, Kentucky, January 24, 1850. She died at the age of 87 years, nine months and sixteen days.
She came to Wayne County, with her uncle, William Bell, in July 1871. On November 27, 1873 she was united in marriage to R. B. Hooper. To this union one daughter was born, Cynthia A. Hooper, who preceded her in death. R. B. Hooper died March 12, 1883.
She was married to Samuel Posey on December 11, 1890, who preceded her in death on June 24th, 1921.
She joined the Missionary Baptist Church at the age of fourteen. She moved her membership to the First M. E. Church at Merriam, in 1876.
In 1890 she moved to Fairfield, where she has lived until her death.
She leaves to mourn her passing: one brother, John W. Bell; one stepson, John Hooper; two granddaughters, Janice Coley, Ozarks, Arkansas, and Edna Flanningan, Houston, Texas.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 Saturday, October 23rd in the First M. E. Church by Rev. A. R. Ransom. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.
