One of the worst rail accidents in Warren County history occurred in February 1921, when a train wrecked on the Barren River bridge. A large crowd gathered when the Louisville & Nashville Railroad decided to destroy the bride on February 17th. Unfortunately Dan Cornwell, a spectator, was instantly killed when a piece of steel struck him, "lifting the top of his head completely off and strewing his brains on the ground."
