Mr. Niswonger managed the former Jackson Hotel and also owned and operated a trucking firm in Jackson for a number of years. In 1931, he moved to Cape Girardeau and served with the Cape Girardeau Police Department for 17 years. He retired in 1959 from his job as a government meat inspector.
