SAMUEL (JIM) SALISBURY RITES HERE SUNDAY
---Funeral services for Samuel A. (Jim) Salisbury, 78, of Route 4, Kirksville, will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Funeral Chapel of Davis 7 Davis. The Rev. Claude Stover and the Rev. R. A. Sherrell will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery.
---Mr. Salisbury died Wednesday morning in a hospital in Columbia. He had been in failing health for several months.
---The son of John and Clara (Griffith) Salisbury, he was born Oct. 8, 1892, at Elmer. On Aug. 10, 1919, in Macon, he married Frances Buck and to this marriage seven children were born. She preceded him in death in 1955 and in 1956 in Kirksville, he married Janie McMann.
---Surviving are his wife, one son, Samuel E. Salisbury, who is serving with the United States Air Force in the Philippines; six daughters, Juanita Basler of Kansas City, Mrs. Clifford (Pearl) Russell of Kirksville, Mrs. John (Lucille) Parker of Bonner Springs, Kan., Mrs. Carrol D. (Marie) Barnett of Napa, Calif., and Mrs. Pearl (Fay) Dobbs and Mrs. James (May) Adams, both of Kirksville; 18 grandchildren; four stepsons, Lavern McMann of Ft. Madison, Ia., Billie McMann of Kahoka, Lowell McMann of Martelle, Ia., Darrell McMann of Kirksville and nine step-grandchildren.
---He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
---Mr. Salisbury was a life-long resident of Adair and Macon counties. For many years he was a driver on the Star Route, from Kirksville west. He also operated the Salisbury Transfer for several years before his retirement.
---He was a veteran of World War I.
---Bearers will be Robert L. Russell, Jerry E. Russell, Jay A. Russell, Edgar E. Parker, Pearl Dobbs and James A. Adams.
