Emil was born on a farm near Avoca, MN the son of John & Maude (Johnson) Ankrum. He grew up on this farm and at the age of ten moved with his family to a farm south of Tracy.
On May 30, 1958, he married Grace Peterson at Tracy. They made their home in the Tracy-Garvin area and he worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for nineteen years. He retired in 1983.
Emil was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He was baptized and confirmed in this church on Dec. 29, 1969. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and attending auctions.
Emil & Grace were the parents of Sandra, Susan, David, Timothy & Jeffrey.
Emil's siblings include Grace Jenkins, Charlie, Fred, Harry, Clarence, Ralph, Walter & Agnes Ewy.
