Donna I. BROOKS NEWCOMB, 89, Owensville Convalescent Center, died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday at her residence.
Born to Burton and Mabel GEORGE BROOKS in East Pennfield, she married James G. "Doc" NEWCOMB March 20, 1931 in Rochester. He died Feb. 25, 1988.
Mrs. Newcomb was a longtime Rochester resident, moving in June of 1998. She was a retired cook for Rochester Community Schools and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Rochester First Baptist Church for over 70 years and a 50 year member of Rochester Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include one son, Karl E. [NEWCOMB] and wife Sharon, Haubstadt; one daughter-in-law, Janice NEWCOMB, Brownsburg; ten grandchildren, Cathie LUKENS, Rochester; Kent NEWCOMB and Laura TITUS, Brownsburg; Scott NEWCOMB, Salem; Howard "Doc" NEWCOMB, Barrington, Ill.; Tom HOOPER, Atlanta; Jean Ann LAUTZENHEISER, Austin, Texas; Julie LOEHR and James "Jamie" NEWCOMB, Fort Branch; Timothy NEWCOMB, Tipton; twenty-seven great-granchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two brothers, George [BROOKS] and Myron BROOKS, both of Webster, N.Y.
Preceding in death with her husband was one son, Edwin B. [NEWCOMB], Sept. 1996, one brother, Lewis BROOKS, one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" STARKEN.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rochester first Baptist Church with Dr. Mark SPENCER officiating. Burial is at Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, and for an hour before services at the church. An Eastern Star service will be at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rochester First Baptist Church.
