Obituary:
Heman G. Case was born in Essex, Vermont, Dec. 19, 1835 and died at his home in Chatfield, Minn. May 2, 1914. His early life was spent in Vermont, coming to Minnesota with his parents in 1856. June 26, 1861 he enlisted in Co. A 2nd Minn. Infantry and was mustered out July 11, 1865.
May 6, 1866 he was married to Miss Louisa Coffin, to home were born two daughters, Mrs. Geo. A. Cooke, of Wilmington, Del., and Mrs. Jos. H. Chermak, of Chatfield, Minn. , and one son, Geo. W. Case of Tracy, Minn. For the past twenty years he has been living in Chatfield. He has been a faithful member of the M.E. Church for nearly fifty years, and has been an active member of the G.A.R. His wife, three children and twelve grandchildren survive him; also two brothers, A.C. Case of Long Beach, Cal., and R.A. Case of Seattle, Wash., and one sister, Mrs. C.B. Riggs also of Seattle.
The Funeral was held from the M.E. Church at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E.C. Teachout officiating. Those in attendance from away were Geo. W. Case, of Tracy; Chas. Case and wife and Mr. J.J. Casseday, of Rochester; Sam Gammell and wife and Mrs. Chas. Washburn, of Spring Valley and Archie Wilsey and wife of Stewartville; D.D. Farrell, of Fountain.
Three years ago Mr. Case was stricken with disease which at times caused intense suffering, but through it all he showed a sweet Christian Spirit.
