Edward F. Mass was born in Pottawattamie County and lived his entire life in that county.

Feburary 2, 1908 at Council Bluffs, Iowa he married Bessie V. Green.

They established their home on the farm owned by his father and lived there four years. They them moved to the farm 5 1/2 miles NE of Silver City, which he later purchased from his father. This remained their place of residence until 1955 when Mrs. Mass's health began to fail. They went to live with their daughter, Mrytle. Mrs. Mass passed away on may 18, 1956 from a massive stroke.

Edward and Bessie were the parents of Myrtle (Mrs. Sylvester Trimmer then Mrs. Theo Sorenson), Marjorie (Mrs.Kenneth Evans), Natalie (Mrs. Irvin Schoening), Etta (Mrs. Oscar Neighbors) and Edward Mass, Jr.

Edward was an outdoor man. He enjoyed farming and his hobbies were hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a familiar figure, walking through the field and following Silver Creek to check his trap lines. He was an excellent marksman and there is no way of knowing the number of thusands of wild game he bagged.

Edward F. Mass passed away on October 4, 1968 of a heart attack.
