LIFE HISTORY OF LOIS MARSH
Lois's parents, Albert Marsh, and Sarah Celestia Okey, were strong LDS people. They were married in the temple on 15 Feb 1865, and became farmers in Alpine, Utah, Utah, USA. Albert was a long time bishop of the ward. On 7 April 1880, their seventh child, a girl, was born. She was their fifth girl, and they named her Lois. She was baptised a member of the Church on 8 June 1888, and was raised in the Church, as a good LDS girl. When Lois was 21, a young man, James William Bramble, was working on her father;'s farm, Lois and James fell in love.
In time, by saving very carefully, Lois and James purchased a tract of land south of Salt Lake City. It is known, today, as 3052 South Third East. At the time, there was no electricity and no water at the home. They dug a well, and bought kerosene lamps and candles. They had an old fashioned ice box, and a hand-operated washing machine. Soon, James began working as fruit and vegetable peddler, a job he worked until his death. It wasn't all work for the Bramble family. They planned for long weekends and holidays in the mountains, where they camped, hiked, and enjoyed the outdoors. The family was large, and didn't have much extra money for fishing or hunting equipment, but they learned the beauty of nature and the fun they could have in it.
Tragedy struck on 31 July 1927, when Lois and one son, James W., were killed in an automobile collision (an accident). A drunken driver had run a red light and caused the accident. A number of other family members were injured and in the hospital. (Other members were Milton & Chloe Bramble). It was a very sad time!
