Elmyra Hoven, 77, Ada, MN, died Friday, July 27, 2007, at MeritCare Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Elmyra Ellen Fetting was born October 18, 1929, at Ada, the daughter of Rudolph and Ellen (Eklund) Fetting. She was baptized at West Wild Rice Lutheran Church, rural Ada, and Confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Ada. She graduated from Ada High School. She had worked after high school at First State Bank in Ada. On November 4, 1950, Elmyra was united in marriage to Arlo Hoven in Ada. They lived in various communities in Minnesota and North Dakota when Arlo worked road construction during the 1950's and 1960's. They returned to Ada and Elmyra worked at various restaurants including Irene's Snack Bar, Bob's Café, and the Busy Bee. She was a devoted member of Winchester Lutheran Church, Borup, MN, where she taught Sunday School, Adult Bible Study, and served with the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Homemaker's Club, Helping Hands Social Club, and a Norman County 4-H Leader. Elmyra is survived by one daughter, Carolyn (Lynn) Speer, Felton, MN, one son, Arlyn Hoven, Ada, two sisters, Marlys (Jess) Andringa, Crookston, MN, and Cheryl (Vernon) Rage, Ada, 3 grandchildren, Liz Speer, Matt (Crystal) Speer, and Tom Speer, 2 great grandchildren, Carlye Speer and Madyson Speer, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Arlo.
Funeral: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada.
Visitation: Monday from 5-7pm at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, and on Tuesday for one hour before the funeral at the church.
Prayer Service: 7pm Monday at the funeral home.
Burial: Winchester Lutheran Cemetery, Borup, Minnesota.
