He was a native of Bulloch County, a resident of Vidalia for 51 years and attended Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as an engineer after 33 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Vidalia.
He was chairman of the Board of Trustees, served on the Administrative Board, was a member oh the Men's Bible Class and an honorary member of the Engineers Association.
SURVIVORS: is wife, Winnie Cone of Vidalia; a daughter, Ellen C. Lynn of Atlanta: three sisters, Margaret C. Tolbert of Bogart, Catherine C. Tilloston of Palatka, Fla., and Jean C. Snooks of Ailey; two brothers, James W. and Edward O. Cone, both of Statesboro; two granddaughters, Rebecca Lynn and Charlotte L. Lail, both of Atlanta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Murchison Funeral Home, Vidalia.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, burial in Pinecrest Cemetery, Vidalia.
