Mrs. Sarah Margaret Emig, wife of Noah A. Emig, was born October 28, 1861, and died at her home in Manheim Township, December 14, 1940, aged 79 years, 1 month, and 16 days.
Although Mrs. Emig had complained more or less for the past year her death came as a shock to the members of her family and to the entire community. Her amiable qualities and kindhearted disposition made her many friends. She always had a hearty welcome for everyone who called at her home.
She had been baptized by the Rev. Julius J. C. Kurtz, November 25, 1861. She was confirmed into membership of St. Jacob's (Stone) Reformed Church by the Rev. Jacob D. Zehring, April 14, 1877, and remained a faithful and loyal member all her life. She was also a member and regular attendant of the Sunday School.
On June 1, 1884 she was married to Noah A. Emig who survives her together with one son, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral services were held from her late home on Tuesday morning, December 17, 1940, with brief services at the house and more extended services at the Stone Church, where many friends and relatives had gathered to pay their last tribute of love and respect. The funeral text was Psa. 90:10; John 11:26.
